At Unified Fitness we recognize the validity of this application for those who want to remain ‘healthy’ & feel good, yet have no desire to be shoved into an image driven arena or a sporting environment where performance derivatives are assumed indicators of commitment and progress.
‘FITNESS’ is a subjective measure dependent on one’s individual interpretation of optimal physical function and / or aesthetic condition. Essentially it is a performance oriented approach that needs to be prioritized accordingly.
Achieving ‘peak fitness’ stems from the development of ‘body awareness’ whereby the participant is capable of monitoring relevant physiological adaptation and biomechanics. Achieving a relative ‘body awareness’ will allow the participant to engage in & endure the principle of ‘overload’; the outcome of which is exponential improvement with significantly reduced risk of injury.
‘REHABILITATION’ training should be interpreted as a continual process governed by the participants’ expectation of function. If the participants’ goal is merely pain relief, the rehabilitation task can be as simple as reduced physical function & repeat exposure to specific corrective exercises. However, if the participants’ goal is to engage in progressive training techniques or interchangeable physical stimuli there is an increased requirement for bio-mechanical efficiency which inevitably depends on the development of a relative ‘body awareness’.
